1 John

1 John addresses the nature of true Christian faith, emphasizing love, obedience, and belief in Jesus Christ as essential marks of a genuine believer. The epistle fiercely combats early Gnostic heresies that denied Christ’s incarnation. It presents God as light (1 John 1:5), love (1 John 4:8), and truth. With fatherly tone, John urges believers to walk in righteousness, confess sin, and love one another. The letter is foundational for Christian ethics and assurance of salvation.

Author: John – Apostle and “Beloved Disciple”
John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, offers deep theological insight and pastoral warmth. As an eyewitness of Christ’s life and ministry, he defends the incarnation and affirms the apostolic gospel. His concern for spiritual authenticity and unity echoes his Gospel account.
