2 Timothy

2 Timothy is Paul’s final and most personal letter, written from prison as a farewell message to his spiritual son, Timothy. It exhorts endurance in suffering, boldness in gospel proclamation, and faithfulness to the Word of God. Paul urges Timothy to "preach the word" in season and out (2 Timothy 4) and to hold fast to the Scriptures, which are “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16–17). This letter is rich in pastoral theology, mentoring, and reflections on legacy and perseverance, making it a core text on discipleship, scripture authority, and Christian endurance.

Author: Paul – Apostle and Imprisoned Mentor
The Apostle Paul, writing under the shadow of martyrdom, pens this final epistle from a Roman dungeon. Aged, abandoned by many, yet still unwavering in his mission, Paul reflects on his life’s work and passes the baton to Timothy. His words are pastoral, prophetic, and deeply personal, offering insight into his heart for the church and his unshaken faith in Christ.

Time Period:

  • Biblical: Written during Paul’s final imprisonment, anticipating his death.
