Jonah
Jonah tells the extraordinary story of a reluctant prophet sent to Nineveh, the capital of Israel’s enemies. When Jonah fled, God pursued him with a storm and a great fish, leading to repentance and restoration. After Jonah finally delivers his message, Nineveh surprisingly repents, and God shows mercy — provoking Jonah’s frustration. At the heart of the book is the powerful declaration: “Salvation is of the Lord” (Jonah 2:9). This short narrative reveals God’s compassion, sovereignty, and global mission—even to those outside Israel.

Jonah, son of Amittai, was a prophet from Gath-hepher in the northern kingdom of Israel (2 Kings 14:25). Though known for his resistance, his life became a living illustration of God’s unrelenting grace and authority over creation, nations, and the human heart.
