Zechariah
Zechariah blends apocalyptic visions and messianic prophecies to inspire post-exilic Israel. He sees divine horses (Zechariah 1), a flying scroll (Zechariah 5), and foretells a coming king: “Behold, your king is coming to you... humble and mounted on a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9), fulfilled in Jesus’ triumphal entry. He also speaks of the pierced Messiah (Zechariah 12:10). The book is rich in symbolic imagery pointing to God’s future plan of redemption.
Author: Zechariah – Visionary Prophet of Hope and the Messiah
A contemporary of Haggai, Zechariah was a priest and prophet. His visions connect Israel’s present struggles with God’s grand eschatological promises. His voice shaped Jewish messianic expectations and New Testament Christology.
